Cut-a-Rama comes to Parkes this year for the RFDS

The annual Just Cuts Cut-a-Rama night is coming to Parkes this year to kick off the Outback Car Trek and help raise vital funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Just Cuts Stylists will service trek participants and the public from 7pm on Saturday June 4 at the Coachman Hotel Motel, creating bold styles for the drivers before they begin their 7 day journey.

Driving a wide range of older model vehicles, participants in the Outback Car Trek will depart Parkes the following morning on June 5th, and arrive at Hervey Bay in Qld on Saturday afternoon, June 11th.

Since 1998, Just Cuts Clients and Stylists have raised over $500,000 for the RFDS through the annual Cut-a-Rama event and donation boxes in over 190 salons Australia-wide.

Just Cuts Founder Denis McFadden is looking forward to his 22nd Cut a Rama, and is calling on the people of Parkes to come down to the Coachman main bar, join the fun and support the cause.

“From Mohawks to moustaches and grandparents to kids, Just Cuts Stylists do it all for the Doctor,” said Denis. “I encourage the whole town to come down, get shaved, get styled and raise money.”

“150 Just Cuts Stylists live and work in 30 regional salons and communities across the country. As a company built by these locally owned and operated businesses we understand the pressing need to fund the healthcare and emergency services the RFDS provide to keep supporting our communities.”

The annual Outback Car Trek serves to raise awareness of the disadvantages regional Australians face when trying to access simple medical treatment. The longest fuel distance on this year’s trek is Thargomindah to Augathella, a 500 kilometre stretch with no fuel along the way.

Providing 24-hour aeromedical emergency services to country Australia, in many locations the RFDS is the only provider of health care services, taking the place of 'local' doctors and delivering health care services to families throughout their whole lives.

“People in these communities can live hours and hours from medical care,” added Denis. “The RFDS are the GPs of regional Australia, with a waiting room that spans millions of kilometres.”

“The RFDS is a lifesaver as people can call them for anything from falling off a horse or injuring themselves on farm equipment. The RFDS can then provide advice or come and provide assistance.”

“Just Cuts have supported the RFDS for over two decades, and will continue this into the future.”

More about Just Cuts

Just Cuts is an Australian hairdressing franchise that bridges the gap between a barber and a high end hair salon. With salons in every state of Australia, on both the North and South islands New Zealand and the United Kingdom, it is the largest hairdressing company in the Southern Hemisphere. Based on a fixed price, no appointment system, Just Cuts offers clients affordable haircuts from fully qualified hairdressers and performs over 100,000 Style Cut cuts per week across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Celebrating 30 years in 2020, Just Cuts was the brainchild of Denis McFadden, who turned a simple idea into a business concept that would change the hairdressing industry forever. McFadden ran his first ever “no appointment, $6 Style Cut” promotion at his humble Sydney salon, receiving an outstanding response from clients. It was on this basic fixed price initiative that the idea of Just Cuts was born. The following year, the inaugural Just Cuts salon opened its door to the public. And in 1990, the first Just Cuts franchise opened in the suburb of Engadine, in the south of Sydney, New South Wales. Our brand has continued to expand ever since, with over 220 locations across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

In 2013, Just Cuts launched JUSTICE Professional – a range of salon quality haircare and styling products available exclusively in all our salons at a competitive, affordable price. The JUSTICE Professional line has something for everyone, including everyday shampoos and conditioners, anti-dandruff and dry scalp treatments, toning products, nourishing leave-in treatments and a range of hair styling waxes and sprays.
