Just Cuts welcomes NSW Government decision on hairdressing visas

Australia’s largest hairdressing company, Just Cuts, today congratulated the NSW Government on the decision to add hairdressers (ANZSCO 391111) back onto the NSW Skilled Occupation List and has called on other States and Territories to follow suit.

The decision provides some hope for 46 of the 79 NSW salon teams coping with lockdown, as the industry continues to deal with the persistent skills shortage and the business impact of COVID-19.

Hairdressers across the state can nominate themselves for a NSW Skilled Nominated visa.

Hairdressers applying for the visa are considered eligible if they are either currently employed in NSW, or have resided in NSW for a minimum of three months.

Just Cuts thanked Sandy Chong, CEO of industry peak body the Australian Hairdressing Council, for continuing to advocate for salons and teams during the pandemic.

Quotes attributable to Just Cuts CEO Amber Manning:

“We thank the NSW Government for this practical decision to support our small business owners during this difficult time, we now need other State and Territory Governments to do the same.”

“Just Cuts Owners have been dealing with the implications of COVID-19 on their businesses, both financially and in terms of recruitment, this move will now help address the skills shortage in NSW.”

“We have 79 Just Cuts Salons in NSW, from Tweeds Heads to Albury, offering Hairdresser positions, and I invite fully qualified hairdressers to nominate themselves for the visa now.”

“This decision is a step in the right direction. We now look forward to continuing to work together with Governments and the Australian Hairdressing Council to develop solutions for our industry.”

“I know there are Clients across Sydney who can’t wait to get back in our salons, and this decision on visas provides some certainty for our business owners on their ability to meet demand in future.”
