It has been a milestone year for Just Cuts Campbelltown, with Salon Owner Joanne Ashkar celebrating 10 years as a franchisee this July, as the Salon also marks 30 years of business this year.
Joanne, who has now spent 27 years working within the Just Cuts network, took over ownership of the Campbelltown salon, located in Macarthur Square, in 2016. Her 10-year anniversary as an Owner caps off three decades of Just Cuts Campbelltown providing affordable, no-appointment Style Cuts to the local community.
The milestone year comes amid further recognition for the business, which has been named finalists in the Campbelltown local Business Awards with the winners to be announced on 7 July. Just Cuts Campbelltown has previously taken home the title in 2014 and 2020 and has been a finalist in every year since.
Joanne said reaching 10 years as an Owner, on top of the Salon’s 30th birthday, was a moment to reflect on everything the team has built.
"Twenty-seven years ago I picked up my first pair of scissors here, never thinking I'd one day be celebrating 10 years as the Owner of this very salon," Joanne said.
"I couldn't have got to 10 years without an incredible team around me. Some of our Stylists have been with us just as long, and that kind of loyalty says a lot about the culture we've built. I'm proud of what we've built, but more than anything, I'm thankful for the people - our team, and of course our clients. We are very lucky to have such a loyal and supportive clientele " Joanne said.
"I also want to say a huge thank you to Just Cuts Founder Denis McFadden for the opportunity he gave me 10 years ago to be a part of the Just Cuts network - I wouldn't be where I am today without it," Joanne added.
Beyond styling hair, Just Cuts Campbelltown has remained deeply committed to supporting the local community. The Salon has a long-standing partnership with We Are Community Incorporated, assisting homeless individuals in the area. For around six years, the team has volunteered on the first Sunday of every month to provide free haircuts at the charity’s roast dinner service for those in need - support that becomes even more valued as the team heads into the colder winter months.
In addition, Just Cuts Campbelltown actively supports Escabags, a program that provides emergency essentials to women and children escaping domestic violence, and the Macarthur Breast Cancer Gala, an annual fundraising event held at the Campbelltown Cube Convention Centre.
Looking ahead, Joanne is planning a complete fit-out of a new-look salon, expected to open in 2027.
“A fresh new fit-out is the perfect way to set the Salon up for the next chapter, and I can't wait to share more details as the plans come together," Joanne added.
