Just Cuts Plenty Valley back to end bad hair days

With restrictions on hairdressing salons in Victoria lifting on Monday, stylists at Just Cuts Plenty Valley have been flat out this week fixing 10 weeks’ worth of COVID hair from all over Whittlesea.

John Apostolou, Owner of Just Cuts Plenty Valley , says even with just 12 hours’ notice on government restrictions lifting he had his team of stylists rostered and COVIDsafe plan in place.

“It’s been hectic in the morning, with queues outside and 2 hour waits within 5 minutes of opening,” says John. “My team are all working extra hours this week. Most clients are understanding as they can use the Just Cuts app to check in and we’ll text them when it’s their turn for a Style Cut.”

“We were getting so many messages on Facebook asking us when we would reopen. It’s been great to see familiar faces again, and helping our clients get their COVID hair under control.”

“We’re doing a lot of restyles at the moment on clients who are 1-2 months overdue for a trim - the number one style is fades for men and boys, and shoulder length bobs for women.”

“I’m glad it’s finally Melbourne’s turn for some post-iso pampering. My team of stylists can’t wait to get you feeling great about your hair again.”

While the pent up demand from months of missed Style Cuts is great for business, John says it’s been tough for small businesses owners in Victoria, especially with no commercial rent relief.

“Bills keep coming in – rent, electricity and insurance. But we had no money coming in.”

“I’m relieved we’re finally open, but I do feel for other Whittlesea businesses like retailers. Without them there’s less foot traffic for my business – so there’s still some uncertainty ahead.”

“Commercial landlords need to share the burden of rent so small businesses can continue to trade.”

John says there’s no need to be hesitant about visiting Just Cuts.

“We’ve been preparing since the day we shut down so we could open right away when it was safe for our clients and stylists to do so. That time is now finally here. ”

“In addition to using contactless payments, we’re also sterilising stations and equipment between every client, and observing strict social distancing guidelines in the salon.”

More about Just Cuts

Just Cuts is an Australian hairdressing franchise that bridges the gap between a barber and a high end hair salon. With salons in every state of Australia, on both the North and South islands New Zealand and the United Kingdom, it is the largest hairdressing company in the Southern Hemisphere. Based on a fixed price, no appointment system, Just Cuts offers clients affordable Style Cuts from fully qualified hairdressers and performs over 100,000 Style Cut cuts per week across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Celebrating 30 years in 2020, Just Cuts was the brainchild of Denis McFadden, who turned a simple idea into a business concept that would change the hairdressing industry forever. McFadden ran his first ever “no appointment, $6 Style Cut” promotion at his humble Sydney salon, receiving an outstanding response from clients. It was on this basic fixed price initiative that the idea of Just Cuts was born. The following year, the inaugural Just Cuts salon opened its door to the public. And in 1990, the first Just Cuts franchise opened in the suburb of Engadine, in the south of Sydney, New South Wales. Our brand has continued to expand ever since, with over 220 locations across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

In 2013, Just Cuts launched JUSTICE Professional – a range of salon quality haircare and styling products available exclusively in all our salons at a competitive, affordable price. The JUSTICE Professional line has something for everyone, including everyday shampoos and conditioners, anti-dandruff and dry scalp treatments, toning products, nourishing leave-in treatments and a range of hair styling waxes and sprays.
