Just Cuts welcomes additional financial support from Victorian Government

Just Cuts welcomes today’s announcement from Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews of additional financial support for businesses forced to close under the introduction of tougher restrictions in Melbourne and across the state.

Hairdressers are included in the business group required to cease operations from 1159 Weds 5 August for the next six weeks.

The Premier today announced businesses in regional Victoria can apply for a $5,000 grant while those in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire can apply for up to $10,000 in recognition of spending longer under restrictions.

Quotes attributable to Just Cuts CEO Amber Manning

“The health of our clients, stylists and team has always been central to everything we do at Just Cuts. We understand the need to take these steps including the necessity of shutting down businesses however there is the undeniable and growing tension small business owners, including our salon owners, face in having to continue to cover all the other incoming bills including rent.”

“The Victorian Government’s move to offset some of this on impacted businesses via the additional grants is most welcome notwithstanding the fact that not all of our owners are eligible including a number who have been in business for less than 12 months. There is still a significant strain on our small business owners and unfortunately, it’s only going to continue so we need to be exploring additional measures such as assistance with payroll tax.”

“The reality is we need all State, Territory and the Federal Government to continue to move on stimulus and support measures to help us all get through this.”

“We have continued to adapt as a network including by adapting online so that our owners are rebated for online purchases and we are promoting gift vouchers for clients to use when our Victorian salons are able to reopen. We are grateful for the ongoing support of our loyal clients and the ongoing professionalism and commitment of our teams.”

More about Just Cuts

Just Cuts is an Australian hairdressing franchise that bridges the gap between a barber and a high end hair salon. With salons in every state of Australia, on both the North and South islands New Zealand and the United Kingdom, it is the largest hairdressing company in the Southern Hemisphere. Based on a fixed price, no appointment system, Just Cuts offers clients affordable haircuts from fully qualified hairdressers and performs over 100,000 Style Cut cuts per week across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Celebrating 30 years in 2020, Just Cuts was the brainchild of Denis McFadden, who turned a simple idea into a business concept that would change the hairdressing industry forever. McFadden ran his first ever “no appointment, $6 Style Cut” promotion at his humble Sydney salon, receiving an outstanding response from clients. It was on this basic fixed price initiative that the idea of Just Cuts was born. The following year, the inaugural Just Cuts salon opened its door to the public. And in 1990, the first Just Cuts franchise opened in the suburb of Engadine, in the south of Sydney, New South Wales. Our brand has continued to expand ever since, with over 220 locations across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

In 2013, Just Cuts launched JUSTICE Professional – a range of salon-quality haircare and styling products available exclusively in all our salons at a competitive, affordable price. The JUSTICE Professional line has something for everyone, including everyday shampoos and conditioners, anti-dandruff and dry scalp treatments, toning products, nourishing leave-in treatments and a range of hair styling waxes and sprays.
