From Stylist to Successful Franchise Owner: A Just Cuts Journey

25 Mar 2026

I’ve been part of the Just Cuts family for over a decade, and this October marks 10 years as a franchise owner! My journey began as a stylist with JustCuts, which gave me a strong understanding of the systems and the confidence in the brand. When the Ocean Keys Clarkson WA salon became available for purchase in 2016, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to take the leap into ownership. Later, I expanded to the Warwick salon from 2020 to 2024, growing my business and my team along the way.

Turning Experience into Opportunity

Having worked within JustCuts for years, I understood what it takes to run a successful salon. This made the transition into ownership smooth, allowing me to focus on building a strong team, local marketing, and delivering exceptional service. Being part of a franchise meant that all the essential systems and procedures were already in place, so I could hit the ground running and concentrate on growth.

Recognition and Leadership

I’m proud to have been recognised for my achievements in salon growth and business excellence:

  • Franchisee of the Year 2022

  • The WOW Best Practice Award for Salon Standards

More recently, I was elected to the Franchise Advisory Council, now serving my second term. Alongside seven other owners and Academy members, we represent the voice of all JustCuts owners, meeting quarterly to discuss current and future initiatives for the network.

Why I Love Being a Franchise Owner

For me, it’s the community. Even with over 200 salons now, JustCuts feels like a family. We support one another through our journey, celebrate wins at the Annual Conference and Awards Night, and enjoy connecting as a network.

Being a franchise owner has also given me flexibility. As a UK transplant with no extended family nearby, I’ve been able to balance work with raising my daughters. Thanks to an amazing team of dedicated stylists, I visit my salons just 2–3 days a week, enabling me to focus on growing the business and enjoying some downtime too.

Expanding the Just Cuts Legacy

The success of my salons and the incredible support from the Just Cuts Academy shows just how strong the franchise model is. And now, the brand is expanding into Canada, with the first site set to open this July, opening exciting opportunities for new franchise owners to join a growing, supportive network.

If you’re looking for a business opportunity where the systems are proven, the support is consistent, and the community is welcoming, becoming a JustCuts franchise owner could be the right step for you.
