Post isolation pampering and staggered slots: Aussie salon chain to open in Teesside shopping mall

Get ready to wave goodbye to lockdown hair - salons have been given the green light to re-open on July 4.

And if you live in Middlesbrough, there'll be a new salon on the block to choose from.

Australian chain Just Cuts will open a branch in the town's

Hillstreet shopping centreon July 4 and managers have explained what clients can expect.

The chain has eight salons in the UK including new salons in Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

They will all open on July 4, said David Mathie, Just Cuts UK general manager.

“We’ve heard from desperate couples forced to cut each other’s hair, men stuck with shonky shaves and traumatised teens who never want their parents to touch scissors again.

"It’s chaos,” says David.

“But for everyone sick of staring at their chin length fringe on zoom meetings, Just Cuts stylists are here to help you once more from July 4.

Covid hair for the Aussies and Kiwis – now it’s finally Britain’s turn for some post-iso pampering. Our stylists can’t wait get you feeling great about your hair again."

Clients can download the JustCuts app to their smartphones, view the queue time at their local salon and reserve a spot, he said.

The salon sends a text when you are next in line.

“Our staggered appointment system is working wonders overseas where we’ve had lines out the door from day one since reopening – it means no queues.

"We know how to operate responsibly in this period because we’re already doing it in countries that have managed Covid-19 so well.

“We’ve been preparing since the day we shut down so we could open right away when it was safe for our clients and stylists to do so. That time is now July 4,” he said.

Stylists will wear PPE masks, there will be daily deep cleaning in the salon as well as sterilising stations and clients will be provided with disposable capes.

“From July 4, we hope you choose to support your locally owned and operated Just Cuts salon as we get Brits back to looking their best - and put an end to DIY hair disasters,” he added.
