A Decade of Growth, Community and Success with Just Cuts

12 May 2026

As Just Cuts  continues its international expansion, including the exciting launch of its first salons in Canada in July 2026, the brand is celebrating the franchise owners helping drive its success story across Australia and beyond.

One of those success stories is Courtney Currie, who recently celebrated 10 years as a Just Cuts Franchise Owner and now proudly owns three thriving salons: Just Cuts Mt Ommaney, Just Cuts Burleigh Heads and Just Cuts Coomera.

With more than 23 years in the hair industry and 18 years connected to the Just Cuts network, Courtney’s journey highlights the opportunities available through franchising with one of the globes most recognised hairdressing brands.

From Stylist to Multi-Salon Owner

Courtney first joined Just Cuts 18 years ago as a stylist at Just Cuts Ipswich and quickly fell in love with the team culture, structured systems, and flexibility the brand offered.

“I loved the team environment, the systems, and the flexibility it gave me as a mum,” Courtney said.

After several years operating her own mobile hairdressing business, Courtney returned to the Just Cuts network at Indooroopilly and began thinking more seriously about business ownership. At the same time, her parents, Steve and Amanda Currie, were exploring business opportunities of their own.

Franchising with a brand Courtney already knew and trusted felt like the perfect fit.

When the opportunity arose to open a new salon at Mt Ommaney, close to where she grew up and lived, the decision felt like a natural next step.

“We met with Luke, and the rest is history,” she said.

Growing a Business with Purpose

Over the past decade, Courtney has successfully expanded from one salon to three, but says her proudest achievement has been building supportive salon cultures and strong community connections.

“Creating salon environments where people feel genuinely supported, appreciated and cared for means everything to me,” Courtney said.

Her salons have become known not only for delivering quality Style Cuts but also for actively supporting local communities through charity drives, fundraising events, and awareness campaigns including Share the Dignity, R U OK? Day and fundraising initiatives for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Courtney is also passionate about mentoring and developing stylists within the industry.

“As someone who truly loves the hair industry, being able to help mentor, train and upskill stylists along the way has been incredibly rewarding.”

Flexibility for Family and Lifestyle

As a solo mum, Courtney says owning a Just Cuts franchise has provided the flexibility to build a successful business while still being present for the moments that matter most with her son.

“One of the biggest blessings has been having the flexibility to attend school events, sports days, concerts and spend quality time together during school holidays,” she said.

Her son has also grown up alongside the business, helping out in salons, participating in community events, and even wearing the Just Cuts mascot costume during promotional days.

“When we say family business, we mean it,” Courtney said.

The opportunities created through the business have also allowed the family to travel together and attend Just Cuts conferences and events, creating lifelong memories along the way.

The Strength of the Franchise Model

Having previously operated independently as a mobile hairdresser, Courtney says the support systems provided through Just Cuts made opening and managing salons far less daunting than going it alone.

“Just Cuts guided us through everything from leasing and fit-out to recruitment, marketing, education, and day-to-day operations,” she said.

“The systems are easy to follow, and support is always just a phone call away.”

Courtney also credits the brand’s ongoing innovation and strong franchise community as key advantages for business owners.

“In the past 10 years alone, we’ve gone from manually checking clients into the queue to self check-in kiosks and the Just Cuts App,” she said.

“The education and support for teams is another huge advantage. There are always opportunities to learn, grow, network, and stay inspired.”

A Global Future for Franchise Owners

As Just Cuts prepares for its Canadian launch in July 2026, stories like Courtney’s showcase the strength of the franchise model and the opportunities available for future franchise owners looking to join a growing international network.

With proven systems, ongoing support, strong brand recognition, and a people-first culture, Just Cuts continues to attract franchise owners passionate about building successful businesses while making a positive impact in their communities.
