From Maternity Leave to a Thriving Salon: Randwick Franchisee Builds a Local Success Story

Several years ago, while on maternity leave with her first child, local Randwick mum Bianca Gergich made a bold decision to take over a Just Cuts salon right in her own neighbourhood.

“We’d always talked about investing in a salon, and when an opportunity came up locally, we decided to go for it,” she recalls. “At the time, I wasn’t sure if it was a good or bad move, I just knew I had to try.”

Not long after stepping into the role of owner, Bianca made the strategic choice to temporarily close for a complete refurbishment, a major step that would set the tone for the future of the salon. The transformation worked. By prioritising team training, consistently following proven Just Cuts procedures, and actively supporting her staff, Bianca created the foundation for long-term growth and success.

Her efforts were quickly recognised within the Just Cuts network. At her very first conference, she won the Most Improved award and also received the Local Area Marketing award - achievements that validated her hard work and vision.

“I always said I had my sights on Franchisee of the Year one day,” she says.

Since taking over, Bianca has added two more children to her family, all while managing a growing salon, teaching part-time, and staying connected to her local community. The salon continues to grow steadily, attracting new clients weekly and building a strong reputation in the Randwick area.

Bianca also remains a passionate supporter of local small businesses, regularly taking part in local area marketing initiatives to boost her salon’s visibility and deepen ties with the community.

In 2025, she was proudly nominated for Franchisee of the YearLocal Area Marketing Award, and a Community Award - clear recognition of her leadership, commitment to her team, and connection to her neighbourhood.

This story shows what’s possible with dedication, smart systems, and a deep passion for your local community.
